Christmas Shopping , the right way

Moment in Time is exactly what the exhibition starting on the first December at the Manoel Theatre Courtyard is all about – a special moment. A moment when artists come together for a good cause at a special time: Christmas time.

December is the month to give, so a group of well-established artists has come forward to give something back to our heritage in a collective exhibition featuring some outstanding works in aid of the non-profit organisation Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar. This group was founded only recently but has managed to achieve a lot in a short space of time, in the field of environment and heritage protection.

This time the event being organised is one that will also help you in your quest for special Christmas presents, especially since the exhibition caters for every price range. What’s more there’s the satisfaction of knowing that every purchase will help to preserve your surroundings. Speaking of surroundings, the art works will include landscapes and seascapes but more besides; the human figure will feature, and although the theme is heritage, some abstract art and photography won’t be missing either.

As for the participants, FAA have got some big names in store: John Martin Borg, Tonio Mallia, Anna Galea, Rosella Dalmas, Andrew Borg, Anthony M. Calleja, Jacqui Agius, Marisa Attard, Justine MB, Kenneth Zammit Tabona, Anton Calleja, Debbie Caruana Dingli, Mary de Piro, Patrick Dalli, Diane Agius, C.S. Lawrence, Madeleine Gera, Celia Borg Cardona, Mona Vella, Winston Hassall and Philip Chircop. Newer faces provide a fresh touch with works by Sarah Calleja, Matthew Cassar, E Perini, Pierre Giusti, Carol Jaccarini and along with Angela and Simon Theuma.

The exhibition will run for a full month and is generously sponsored by the Athenaeum Algotherm Spa and Bank of Valletta. Opening hours are also extremely convenient as its open all day long, from 10am to 8.30pm. It is time we stopped looking on silently as Malta loses more of its urban and rural heritage; now you can really do something for your environment and it won’t take much – just some serious Christmas shopping!
