Off the Beaten Track – Lecture Series

Join us for Off the Beaten Track, a series of lectures exploring the beauty, culture, and access of the Maltese countryside. Each session highlights a different perspective on enjoying and protecting Malta’s natural landscapes.

Lecture 1 – Exploring Malta’s Hidden Paths Friday, 17th October, 6.30pm
Hosted by experienced walking guide Frans Attard, a veteran outdoor enthusiast whose knowledge of Malta’s countryside and walking routes is unmatched. Frans will share insights on some of the island’s lesser-known trails and how to explore them responsibly.

Lecture 2 – Discovering Nature with a Fresh Perspective Friday, 24th October, 6.30pm
Led by Ryan Schoo, creator of the popular social media page Growing Up Abroad. Having moved to Malta ten years ago, Ryan is passionate about inspiring families and young people to connect with nature and experience Malta’s outdoors from a newcomer’s point of view.

Lecture 3 – Your Rights in the Countryside Friday, 31st October, 6.30pm
Presented by Ingram Bondin from the Ramblers Association of Malta. This session will focus on public access, the right to roam, and the legal protections that govern Malta’s rural areas.

Lecture 4 – Guided Countryside Walk Start time and place to be decided. Saturday, 8th November
To conclude the series, our speakers will lead a guided hike, putting their shared knowledge into practice. Participants will explore scenic routes while learning about the landscapes, rights, and responsibilities discussed throughout the series.
